The world is reprogramming your brain.

It’s time for an act of defiance in a world that can sometimes make us feel powerless.

Our devices have opened up a Pandora’s box of temptation.  Devices that are supposed to make life easier and save time, have actually sped things up and as a result many are less productive as we try and live in this age of epic distraction.

Don’t let the world yank you around. Fight back!

It’s time to choose what you want to notice and pay attention to rather than let the world pour truckloads of garbage all over your brain.  All high-performance coaches will tell you that what you focus on grows.  So why would we let strangers who make crazy claims or share their highlight reels take command of our focus?  Really, the success reels of others limit our imagination when we should be dreaming big.

You can begin by simply starting your day differently.

And it begins with not looking at your phone or any device before you determine what you want your day to look like.  For most this is virtually impossible – you and I both know people who can’t even go the bathroom without their phone.  So, even before they brush their teeth, the world crashes in and grabs their attention.

Be defiant and try this instead.  Make the first 10 or 15 minutes of your day yours.

  • Before you even get up, consider something you are grateful for today (it can even just be your pillow).
  • Then read something for five minutes – something you want to learn, something that inspires.
  • Stretch and get your body moving.  There is an undeniable mind/body connection.
  • Then write down three things that if you got done today would make your day great.  They don’t have to be big. But they do need to get done.

Now, you can look at your phone if you must.

Do you have what it takes to take command of your day, your life?

Don’t play your game using someone else’s playbook.  Write your own.
